Small Arms Protective Insert (SAPI)
Mission
Designed for the purpose of effectively protecting specific parts of the body from ballistics.
Description
SAPI body armor plates are made of ceramic but are lightweight and protect Soldiers from bullets of firearms of small caliber, such as pistols, carbines, rifles, and other weapons, as well as from armor piercing projectiles. The SAPI cut, compared to the Shooter's Cut, is the more traditional body armor shape often found in military armor systems.
